3 Not-So-Obvious Signs That There's Something Wrong With Your Heater

by Lillian Bishop

When it comes to your heater, you probably know to look out for obvious signs that there is a problem -- for example, a burning smell or a heater that doesn't turn on and off properly obviously needs attention. There are a few not-so-obvious signs that you should also look for, however, if you want to ensure that your boiler is in good condition. Make sure that you keep your eye out for these signs, and call a boiler repair company if you notice any of them. Then, you can take care of any issues before they get too serious.

1. An Overly Dusty Home

If you constantly find yourself dusting and cleaning your home but still can't seem to keep the dust under control, there's a sign that your HVAC system is to blems with blame. It could be clogged with dirt and dust, which will not only make your home dusty but can also affect the efficiency of your heating system. There could also be prodirty and dusty ducts. Either way, it's a good idea to hire a heating and cooling professional to come out and look at your system to take care of any dust and dirt-related issues. This can help you cut down on cleaning time, improve the indoor air quality inside your home and help your heater run more efficiently.

2. An Exaggerated Utility Bill

If you notice that you are spending more money on gas or electricity than you did last year, then you shouldn't just chalk it up to the plunging temperatures or the increased rates charged by your providers. Instead, you should consider having your system looked at. Heaters that aren't operating at maximum efficiency can run much more frequently and much longer, which can obviously cause you to use more gas and electricity. Along with saving money on your utilities, you can also help preserve your system by calling a heating repair professional.

3. Your Home is Dry

You can expect your home to be a little more dry during the cold winter months, but there are some signs of dryness that you should look out for. If you notice that your skin is dry and your lips are chapped, for example, you shouldn't assume that it's because you aren't using enough lotion of lip balm. This could be an indication that your system isn't working properly and is drying the air in your home out, but luckily, a heating repair professional can come out and fix the problem.

As you can see, not all heating-related issues are obvious. If you notice any of these not-so-obvious signs, there's a strong chance that you could be dealing with a heating issue. Luckily, a good boiler repair professional can get to the bottom of any of these issues.

About Me

Creating a Quick Home Sale

One of the things that helped sell my home quickly, at least according to my real estate agent, was the time I spent fixing up the landscaping. I knew about the importance of eye appeal, but who would have thought that something as simple as a storage shed or a backyard veggie garden could make such a big difference in the sale price of a home, and the length of time it takes to sell said home? Well to prove that my landscaping techniques worked, I helped three friends sell their homes using some of my tips and tricks. It seems to have worked, because every one of them were able to fetch their asking price and sell before their goal deadlines. So, I figured I should help others out there who could use a little help in the home selling department… hopefully you'll find inspiration on the pages here.
