4 Ways To Help Sell Your Home Fast

by Lillian Bishop

The housing market can be difficult to predict; sometimes homes sell quickly, and other times houses can sit on the market for months. No matter what the market conditions, there are things you can do to expedite the sale of your home.

1. Entry Impressions

When selling your home, first impressions count. A home very well may be beautiful inside, but if the exterior is lacking, buyers could pass it by. To make an excellent first impression, clear all of the clutter from your yard and perfect your entryway as needed with touch-up paint. Consider re-staining or perhaps even replacing your front door. Repair any defects in your porch, steps, railings and concrete paths. Address siding defects and missing roof shingles, and touch up your trim as needed.

2. Spruce Up Your Landscaping

A refined, manicured lawn can also do wonders your home's curb appeal. Sidewalks and flower beds should be kept neat and edged. Trim, groom, add, or remove foliage as necessary to optimize the overall look of your property. A potted flower, a welcome mat and some bird feeders can add good energy to your yard and make it even more appealing to potential buyers. If you're too busy to tend to your lawn, hire a professional landscape service such as NW Landscape Management Inc to take care of it for you.

3. Don't Skimp on the Kitchen

The kitchen tends is a focal point of the home and is one of the key areas of consideration to most home buyers. Because of this, you should devote time and energy to this space. If it's in your budget to update the cabinets, appliances and counter tops, this can enhance your kitchen area greatly; if not, some budget-friendly upgrades can include:

  • A fresh coat of paint (warm, natural and neutral tones are best)
  • Cabinet refacing
  • Update the kitchen cabinet hardware
  • Add appealing touches such as cut flowers in a vase, designer hand towels and a bowl of fresh fruit

4. More Storage

Home buyers can't get enough storage, so do all you can to maximize the available storage in the home. Clean out those crawl spaces, finish your basement or add sheets of plywood in the attic rafters to give new owners more options.

While the housing market can be extremely unpredictable, updating your home in these key areas can help to increase the odds of selling it rapidly.

About Me

Creating a Quick Home Sale

One of the things that helped sell my home quickly, at least according to my real estate agent, was the time I spent fixing up the landscaping. I knew about the importance of eye appeal, but who would have thought that something as simple as a storage shed or a backyard veggie garden could make such a big difference in the sale price of a home, and the length of time it takes to sell said home? Well to prove that my landscaping techniques worked, I helped three friends sell their homes using some of my tips and tricks. It seems to have worked, because every one of them were able to fetch their asking price and sell before their goal deadlines. So, I figured I should help others out there who could use a little help in the home selling department… hopefully you'll find inspiration on the pages here.
