4 Reasons Venetian Blinds May Be A Better Option Than Drapes

by Lillian Bishop

If you are considering new window coverings for your home, you may be torn between selecting drapes or Venetian blinds. Nevertheless, Venetian blinds may be the best option. Here are a few reasons why:

Easy Cleaning

Venetian blinds are easy to clean. Instead of the professional dry cleaning that may be required for curtains, Venetian blinds can simply be wiped clean or dusted off with a feather duster. The hard surface of each blind slat is generally nonporous. Thus, the blinds do not readily absorb stains.

Light Control

Venetian blinds give you the ability to control the amount of natural light that enters your living space. With the blinds fully closed, you can minimize natural light to allow for better sleeping during daylight hours. You can also limit the exposure of your furniture to harmful ultraviolet rays that could fade or dry them out. Closed blinds also provide great privacy from the eyes of people passing by your home.

Closed curtains give you some control. However, they do not allow you to easily adjust the level of light entering a room without concealing a portion of your windows. In addition, the fabric weight and color of the drapes may permit a great amount of light to enter even when the drapes are drawn. The adjustable tilt of the blind slats permits the full entry of natural light or allows you to gradually dim the amount of light in the room.

Design Finishes

Venetian blinds also offer many different design options. Drapes are usually available in different fabrics, but Venetian blinds can be purchased in a wide variety of finishes and materials, such as PVC, metal, and wood. As a result, the blinds can easily be matched to different interior designs, such as traditional, modern, industrial or minimalist designs. Fabric window coverings may look out-of-place when paired with certain design styles, such as minimalist designs.

Easy Installation

Curtains can be difficult to install. They may require special rods and anchor screws, based on the weight of the material and the structure of the drapes. Venetian blinds can simply be matched to the measurement of your window and installed with the included hardware. Often, the installation is simple enough that it can be completed by a single person. Often, drapes require multiple people during installation.

About Me

Creating a Quick Home Sale

One of the things that helped sell my home quickly, at least according to my real estate agent, was the time I spent fixing up the landscaping. I knew about the importance of eye appeal, but who would have thought that something as simple as a storage shed or a backyard veggie garden could make such a big difference in the sale price of a home, and the length of time it takes to sell said home? Well to prove that my landscaping techniques worked, I helped three friends sell their homes using some of my tips and tricks. It seems to have worked, because every one of them were able to fetch their asking price and sell before their goal deadlines. So, I figured I should help others out there who could use a little help in the home selling department… hopefully you'll find inspiration on the pages here.
