Reasons To Use A Power Sander

by Lillian Bishop

Sanding is an integral part of virtually every woodworking project. If you want a surface to have a smooth and high-quality finish, you'll need to sand it carefully. While it's possible to complete certain sanding tasks with a sheet of sandpaper, many people favor using a power sander. Any tool store in your city carries several different types of power sanders, including belt sanders, random orbit sanders, and more. There are many reasons that it's a good idea to use a power sander for many different woodworking projects, including the following.

Physical Ease

If you have a lot of sanding to do and are faced with sanding the wood by hand, there's a good chance that you'll be tired by the end of the project. Hand sanding is very physical; you may need to move your hand back and forth thousands of times to achieve the smooth finish that you desire. Some people find that hand sanding is simply too challenging. For example, if you have arthritis and struggle with a lack of mobility in your wrists, elbows, and shoulders, hand sanding may not be suitable. Using a power sander allows you to tackle major sanding projects with much less physical effort.

Project Time Reduction

Sanding by hand takes a lot of time, and while you might not mind investing this time if you're working on a casual project with no timetable, this may not always be the case. For example, if you want to complete a certain woodworking project to give to a loved one as a gift, you'll want to have it done by a specific date. Using a power sander allows you to complete sanding projects in a fraction of the time it would take you by hand.

Even Finish

It's easier to achieve an even finish when you use a power sander instead of sanding by hand. When you sand by hand, you can accidentally exert too much pressure in certain areas, causing slight indentations in the wood. This mistake is much harder to make when you use a power sander, as it's constantly moving unless you physically hold it still. In the case of a random orbit sander, in particular, it's designed to move in a random manner to prevent excessive sanding in one specific spot. If you're interested in enjoying these many benefits of using a power sander, look for one at a tool store in your area.

About Me

Creating a Quick Home Sale

One of the things that helped sell my home quickly, at least according to my real estate agent, was the time I spent fixing up the landscaping. I knew about the importance of eye appeal, but who would have thought that something as simple as a storage shed or a backyard veggie garden could make such a big difference in the sale price of a home, and the length of time it takes to sell said home? Well to prove that my landscaping techniques worked, I helped three friends sell their homes using some of my tips and tricks. It seems to have worked, because every one of them were able to fetch their asking price and sell before their goal deadlines. So, I figured I should help others out there who could use a little help in the home selling department… hopefully you'll find inspiration on the pages here.
